Updates will be
here soon...
I've posted highlights of this year's NSCA Advisory Council Meeting on
the Zone 7 web site. Also, rule changes that have gone into effect
(housekeeping issues), and the ballot questions to the Delegates for
approval are listed.
I hope this web site becomes a useful tool. Please pass this onto
as
many people as possible.
Thanks!!!
Adam Pinto
Zone 7 Delegate
Hello all,
Some shooters were wondering why the NSCA did away with the plastic
membership card. See Lori Hartmann's [NSCA Club Administrator] reply
below.

Desert Lakes is coming back!!!
The new Owners of Desert Lakes
Country Club will be re-opening the facility by the end of January. Once
they are on their feet, we should see registered shoots as well. The club
will be open to the public, and offer memberships. Please stay tuned for
more information as it becomes available.
Nevada State Shoot concurrent awards.
There were in and out of state concurrent awards in the Nevada State shoot
program in both the Main event and in the Main Five Stand event. Concurrent
awards were given two down for in state and 1st place out of state. After I
revisiting the Carson Valley Clays program it clearly stated in bold type
that on the preliminary day there would not be any
concurrent awards.
It was the club's intention not give out any plastic / wood trophies just to
fill out the awards package. They were given over $10,000 by the Nevada
State Sporting Clays Association for trophies and added money, plus I was
told that the club put up an additional $2500.00 to purchase the very best
buckles / money clips they could buy, nearly every award was in the $100.00
range including those given to the out of state winners.
Carson Valley Clays gave trophies 3 deep for in state shooters and 2 deep
for out of state shooters in both the main sporting and five stand, plus a
shooting bag to the winner of each class in and out of state for the main
sporting event and all money was equally divided both in and out of
state.
Please remember that the main event was only $150.00 with $10.00 back to
class, there was only so much money to go around, all this and a free free
hot dog !
Thanks to all who attended !

Northern Nevada Youth program a big success !!
Dave Sanger, of the Nevada Fish and Wildlife has put together a great
youth shooting program, with the help of Sage Hill's Owner Darlene
Bullard, Tom Forbes pro-shop manager and 20 volunteers from the gun
club.
The program is for kids between the ages of 12 and 16. The first half
hour of the class stresses gun safety and basic clay target shooting
theories followed by shooting 12 trap and 12 skeet targets, one on
one
with the instructors.
After completion of this six week course the students will be treated
to
a free sporting clays competition sponsored by Carson Valley Clays.
[see
link] CVC President Dave Sharpe has the full support of the CVC
membership, the members are volunteering their time pulling,
providing
lunch, prizes and free targets for the youthful shooters.
Foot note: Mason Valley Trap and Skeet along with Carson Valley Clays
sent five junior shooters [all expenses paid] to shoot at the Grand
American Trapshoot in Vandalia, Ohio last year.
This Youth program has produced very positive results for the Sage
Hill
club. Dads and Grand Dads have pulled their old fire sticks out of
the
closet to shoot with the kids. We have a whole squad of moms lined up
for the next six week session.
I would hope more Nevada clubs will get on line and promote youth
shooting.
Linda Hand, Nevada State Trapshooting Delegate from the Las Vegas Gun
Club has also put together a very good youth clay target shooting
program. For those of you in the southern part of the state, Linda
Hand
or Steve Carmichael, owner of the LVGC, are the people to see or
e-mail
me. [Joe Winnicki] [See "
Contacts" on the nvssca website]
Good Shooting,
Joe
